The stunning new 2012 VW Tiguan in showroom
Only worth getting used to the nimble and compact “Tiguan” of Volkswagen, endearing city streets and country highways, as they are updated. Photos of restyled versions were available for study for a long time, but to become better acquainted with the SUV was only the beginning of June in Germany.

After galloping a press conference held at the Kempinski Hotel Airport, slowly munching fancy bagels with butter and emptying coffee supplies, our group of journalists chose a car. The gray skies poured rain Munich test car – they were all one assembly by a simple selection algorithm, “the most powerful and with all options.” As it turned out, was worth a cup of tea hurry. A more agile foreign colleagues dismantled all the versions with the top engines, exactly as with automatic transmissions. I had to settle for 180-strong Tiguan with manual transmission.

Sly views of representatives of Volkswagen eloquently hinted that we will certainly enjoy a trip, and I believed them once. About 400 miles of test route Munich (Germany) – Klagenfurt (Austria) as described were so diverse, that promised to test the car in various conditions, and the scenery outside the windows, threatening to once and for all conquer the minds and hearts. Highways and narrow streets of small towns, mountain serpentines, tunnels, gravel tracks – all the way to overcome should not go more than five hours. But it is only in theory.

Leave the car park helped us analog way: a couple of guys in jackets Tiguan Team-intentioned gestures showed us where to go. Since the run ahead and show the way for the further they were not going, we were left alone with the car and overcast Munich. Fortunately the car was equipped with an electronic assistant, and GPS. Literally five minutes after the beginning of the movement, we were on the highway. Built-in navigation system is a female voice ordered to follow the route in their native language by Jeremy Clarkson, and she did it just flatly: “Turn Right, Now!” – Then try to disobey. The camera on the back of the rear-view mirrors to read data from road signs display the speed limit and informing of the ban on overtaking or uneven sections of the road – it’s incredibly convenient, especially in unfamiliar areas, where the names of settlements are composed primarily of consonants. Traffic Assistant is also able to follow the layout to prevent accidental trip to the line, and if the dream begins to overpower the driver with terrible force, care has to make a break for a cup of coffee. By the way, small restaurants and cozy cafes authentic, not to mention gas stations and fast food along the route are many.
